A consultation with a dietitian: what to expect

I do not have a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe that each and every one of us is unique and requires their own personalised plan. In order to form the right plan for you, I take into consideration a wide range of factors, including:

All of these factors, among many others, determine your food choices.

  • Medical (such as medical diagnosis and medication)
  • Biological (such as hunger, appetite and taste)
  • Economic (such as financial status)
  • Physical (such as education and cooking skills)
  • Social (such as culture, family and peers)
  • Psychological (such as mood, stress and guilt)
  • Knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about food
  • Physical activity levels

Booking your appointment

You can book your appointment online or contact me via email or telephone.

The first consultation

If you have any recent laboratory test results or scans from your doctor (within the last 6 months), it is helpful to bring them to the first session. A series of anthropometric measurements will be taken, along with a detailed body composition analysis. Following a review of your medical history and taking into consideration the personal physiological, psychological and lifestyle factors influencing your nutritional choices, you will receive:

  • Recommendations for appropriate dietary and lifestyle changes
  • A supportive meal plan
  • Recommendations for laboratory testing, if appropriate
  • Recommendations for supplements, if appropriate

Follow-up consultations

Most situations benefit from at least one follow-up consultation. However, it can be necessary to work together for a longer period of time. During your follow-up, anthropometric measurements and body composition analysis are taken and a detailed review of your meal plan is conducted. Any new factors (e.g. laboratory tests) are reviewed. The use of behaviour change techniques and evidence-based nutritional education are key during every follow-up.
